Bedford-Stuyvesant

Bed-Stuy has some of the most beautiful residential streets in all of New York — block after block of 19th-century brownstones with tall stoops, original details and mature trees overhead.

Most rentals are floor-through apartments inside those brownstones, which often means high ceilings, decorative fireplaces and access to a garden. Newer elevator buildings have been added along the main avenues.

The neighborhood has deep roots and a strong sense of community, with long-standing churches, soul food institutions and a growing list of cafes, wine bars and shops along Tompkins and Nostrand Avenues.
